Mod Description
Every time the farmer gains a fishing level, the fish get a little more feisty and a little more valuable.
Have you ever had your brain go numb with boredom at fishing level ten catching carp after carp while waiting for the Legend to come along? Feel like fishing is too easy after the first few days? Want more of a challenge? Or maybe you just hate your farmer?
Then this may be the mod for you!
What it does
- As your farmer levels up, vanilla fish get a little harder to catch and sell for a little more money. They also restore a little more health.
- Fish recipes also increase in value and in health restored.
- Progression through fishing levels will be a little slower as perfect catches are rarer, and fishing chests are more risky.
- The fishing minigames at festivals will also increase in difficulty. (sadly the rewards don't increase as that's beyond my skill level right now)
Side effects
- Prices and difficulties do not change until the day after you level up, much like crafting recipes and most other level-up benefits.
- If you stack fish caught at a lower fishing level with those caught at a higher fishing level, they will take the lower level price. So there's no need to hanging on to fish to sell after levelling up (unless you're about to get the Fisher or Angler professions)
How it calculates
- There are five styles of fish movement (sink, float, smooth, dart, mixed). The hardest fish for each style do not change in difficulty; the easier ones narrow the gap between their vanilla difficulty setting and the hardest difficulty fish in that category.
- How much the gap narrows depends on what difficulty setting you pick in the config.
- Base prices and Level 0 difficulties are unchanged. I haven't made any attempt to balance that aspect of vanilla fishing. (I'm aware that some harder fish, notably the scorpion carp, are shortchanged by this.)
- For each style of fish movement, the relative difficulties of fish in that category are maintained. The easiest ones gain the biggest jumps in difficulty and value, intermediate fish gain smaller jumps in difficulty, and the hardest fish are almost or completely unchanged.
- Increases in difficulty are linear; increases in price are exponential (if initially small).
- Fish with harder styles of movement (mixed, dart) increase more in price than fish with easier movement styles (smooth).
Compatibility
- Only includes vanilla fish and fish recipes. I currently have no plans to include fish or recipes from other mods.
- May interact weirdly with other rebalance mods that affect fishing or override parts of how fishing works.
Installation
